Terms and conditions

These terms apply when you use the CarSpy app or this website. "CarSpy", "we" and "us" mean the operator of CarSpy. By signing up, buying credits or booking an inspector, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use CarSpy.

1. What CarSpy is

CarSpy is software that helps car inspectors work through a guided checklist, capture evidence and produce an inspection report for their clients. The site also lists approved inspectors so that clients can find and book them.

CarSpy doesn't inspect cars. Inspectors are independent professionals, not our employees or agents. Each inspection, and the price for it, is agreed between the inspector and the client. We are not a party to that agreement.

2. Inspector accounts

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
  • The details and documents you give us must be true, current and your own. We review every application and may approve or reject it at our discretion.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us straight away at support@carspy.in if you think someone else has used it.
  • One account per person. Accounts can't be sold, shared or transferred.

3. Credits and payment

  • You buy credits in packs. Pack sizes and prices, including any taxes, are shown before you pay. Payments are handled by our payment provider.
  • One credit is used each time you submit a report. There is no subscription.
  • Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred. They are not refundable, except where the law requires it or you were charged in error. If a payment went through but the credits didn't arrive, email support@carspy.in with the order details and we'll sort it out.
  • We may change pack prices in future. A change doesn't affect credits you have already bought.

4. Your inspections and reports

  • You are responsible for the inspections you carry out and everything in your reports. Record what you actually find, honestly and with care.
  • Only capture photos, video and audio you're entitled to, with the owner's permission where needed. Avoid recording people or personal documents beyond what the inspection needs.
  • Your content stays yours. You give us permission to store, process and display it, and to share it with anyone you send the report link to, so that CarSpy can work. That permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law.

5. Booking an inspector

  • A booking request passes your details to the inspector you chose. No payment is taken on this site. You agree the price, time and scope directly with the inspector.
  • Any dispute about an inspection or its price is between you and the inspector. We're happy to help where we can, so get in touch at support@carspy.in.
  • Reviews must be honest and about your own experience with the inspector. We may remove reviews that are false, abusive or off-topic.

6. What a report is, and isn't

A report records what the inspector saw and checked on the day. It is not a guarantee or warranty of the car's condition, history, ownership or value, and it may not reveal hidden or intermittent faults. Read it alongside the vehicle's documents and service history and, where it matters, a mechanic's opinion.

7. Things you must not do

  • Make false or misleading reports, or edit evidence to hide or invent a fault.
  • Pretend to be someone else, or use another person's documents.
  • Upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Try to get into accounts or systems you aren't allowed to, or disrupt the service.
  • Copy, scrape or resell the service, or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it.

8. Suspension and closing your account

You can close your account at any time by emailing support@carspy.in. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts clients at risk. Where we can, we'll tell you why first. If we close your account without you having broken these terms, we'll refund the value of any unused credits.

9. Our responsibility

We work to keep CarSpy available and accurate, but we provide it "as is". It may sometimes be unavailable or have errors. We are not responsible for an inspector's work, the contents of a report, or a decision anyone makes based on one. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

10. The CarSpy name and software

The CarSpy name, logo, app and website belong to us. These terms let you use them for their intended purpose, and give you no other rights in them.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell inspectors by email or in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using CarSpy after that, you accept the new terms.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem. If we can't, the courts of India have jurisdiction.
